The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly, on Wednesday, said the alleged Instagram post of his daughter Sana regarding the Citizenship Promotion Act (CAA) was not true.

Former Indian cricket team captain Ganguly also said that Sanaa is too young to understand anything about politics and she should be left alone.

A snapshot of 18-year-old Sana's Instagram story went viral on Tuesday, in which she allegedly criticized the Citizenship Amendment Act.

On her daughter's post, Ganguly tweeted, "Please keep Sana away from all these issues ... This post is not true ... She is too young to know about the political."

Ganguly's daughter Sana allegedly shared a quotation from Khushwant Singh’s novel The End of India that was published in 2003 in her Instagram story, commenting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Khushwant Singh has been one of the best writers and journalists in India. Singh, who has seen the bifurcation of India and Pakistan, discusses racist violence, atrocities against minorities and public violence and the use of religion in politics in his book.

The Rajya Sabha on December 11, 2019, passed the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The Bill for the first time allows citizenship on the basis of religion to six communities from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have taken the country by storm.
